Today, the department gained its popularity and independent identity with the name of “Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy” named after the ruler ‘Sri Kempegowda’, the founder of Bangalore City.

Under Graduate Programme: BPT
Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy offers a full-time 4 ½ years including 6 months of compulsory rotatory internship undergraduate degree programme in Physiotherapy recognized by the Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) with an annual intake of 40 students.

1. Library
There are three separate libraries available in the campus. One is at Banashankari Campus and another is in the Central library in KIMS block and a reference library in the college.
A wide range of books about 17,000 and odd encompassing all branches of medicine and Physiotherapy are made available on shelf. A good collection of National and International Journals and publications are also present. Library in the college has an exclusive collection of Internationally acknowledged Physiotherapy books.
2. Central Library
The KIMS Library was established in 1981 when the College started functioning. Year after year it has made steady progress and has grown into a collection of 21,500 Medical Books & 10,150 bound volumes with subscription to 145 periodicals yearly on various medical subjects.
There is a library in the hospital complex to cater to the clinical departments with a seating capacity of 100 there are 4,600 books available in this library. Both the central library and the hospital library have in addition a digital library with internet facilities. In addition to above all departments have a department library of their own.
3. Hospital
KIMS Hospital and Research Centre is regarded as one of the best healthcare providers, equipped with advanced medical equipment and technologies, it has been constantly achieving milestones in the medical field.
It caters to all broad specialties like Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Emergency medicine, Respiratory medicine, Preventive Medicine, and Forensic Post-mortem facility.

4. Transport
There are five buses including one mini bus and two maruti vans available for Transportation of students to and from Banashankari campus to the Hospital premises and to transport them to various training centres.
Mass transport facility is available for students, to complete between college campus in Vishweshwarapuram (VV Puram) and Pre-clinical campus at Banashankari 2 stage. Buses ply between the two campuses in morning, lunch hour and evening time.
Students can travel in the bus by boarding it at the specific points in college as well as in Pre-clinic campuses. A nominal fee is levied on the coming students, for the purpose on a no loss no profit basis.
5. Bank
Banking facility is available in the college campus for students. An extension counter of Syndicate Bank is functioning at the BIT (Bangalore Institute of Technology) building with in the campus. Student can open account for all his/her financial transactions and deposition of money.
6. Hostel
Separate Hostels are available for boys and girls, attached to the Pre-clinic campus in Banashankari 2 stage. It is located approximately 4 km away from the college campus. Students can travel between the 2 colleges and bus is provided for the purpose.
Hostel is supervised by a manager and controlled by warden. Ragging, Contraband substances, alcohol, sound pollution etc., are prohibited. Inmates should strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of hostel.
7. Canteen
There are three canteens are functioning in the whole campus. One in BIT building, another in KIPT building and a third one the KIMS Hospital, near the college. It provides all types of foods and refreshments during working hours.
8. KIMS Co-operative Society
The KIMS Co-Operative Society was started in the year 1981. It caters to the needs of students and staff in their requirement of books, stationary and other articles at concessional prices.
All students of KIMS and teaching faculty members are shareholders of the society. The board of directors of the society consists of teaching faculty as well as students.
9. GYM
A well- equipped multi gymnasium has been set up in the fitness center. These facilities can be utilized by students and the general public.

1. Qualifying Examination
You should have passed two-year Pre-University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. OR
You should have passed any other examination conducted by Boards / Councils / Intermediate examination established by State Government / Central Government and recognized as equivalent to a two-year Pre-University Examination by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences / Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. OR
If you have completed Pre-university course with Vocational Physiotherapy as their optional subject will be eligible for admission to BPT course.
2. Qualifying Marks
The selection of students to a course of Physiotherapy shall be based on merit provided that:
You must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained not less than 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination.
In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Category I, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together in qualifying examination is not less than 40% instead of 45% as above.
3. Age
You should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Every candidate before admission to the course shall furnish to Principal of the Institution a Certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Government Medical Officer to the effect, that the candidate is physically fit to undergo Physiotherapy course.
